About

How we vet, and why you can trust it

Buy It For Life exists for one question: what should I buy so I never have to buy it again? We answer it the slow way. We read the durability communities, we buy and use the contenders, and we score them on the things that actually decide whether an object lasts.

The five things we judge

  • Longevity. How long it actually survives real use, not spec-sheet promises.
  • Repairability. Can it be fixed, and are parts available?
  • Warranty. What the maker will actually honor, and how painful the claim is.
  • Resale & heritage. Does it hold value and get handed down?
  • Materials & construction. What it is made of and how it is put together.

Tested vs community-cited

Every guide is labeled. Tested means we owned and used the product: the photos, measurements and long-term notes are ours. Community-cited means we synthesized owner consensus from durability communities and said so plainly. We never claim hands-on experience we do not have.

How we make money

Some links are affiliate links: if you buy through them we may earn a commission, at no cost to you. That never changes a recommendation. Our incentive is to send you to something you will not need to replace, because a site about durable goods only works if you trust it for years.
